In early August we headed to upstate New York for CMC annual conference. For me, highlights of Conference were: connecting with lots of old friends, Taste of Missions, classes for the kids, the kid’s choir, talk by Richard and Jewel Showalter, hymn sing, workshops on urban homelessness and also helping kids behave….and the best part…Fred and Michelle decided to come! It was fun to share a house with them (our hosts graciously loaned us their house and moved to their lake house for the weekend) but the very sad part was that Blake was sick the whole time and they had to miss a lot of Conference too. It was so fun for the girls to have the Laci and Tessa time and the kids enjoyed trying out the hot tub at the house one night. The ride to Conference was fun too- we took our time and got to see two of the great lakes on the way (Erie and Ontario…I think!)…plus homemade root beer floats, a train museum, and hot Chinese food while the rain poured down. On the way home, we took a detour to the North and spent an evening visiting our IFI friend Caleb who is doing an internship in Rochester, NY this summer. He took us to a park/lake, and out for ah-maz-ing BBQ at Dinosaur BBQ. So good to see him again and we’re happy he’s back at OSU this fall. We spent one night in a hotel and the next morning spent a few hours on the Canada side of Niagra Falls taking in all that power and beauty and enjoying being part of a very international group of tourists.
