Happy Birthday, Eliza! Orange is her current favorite color.
We had such a fun day celebrating our Eliza girl on her 9th birthday. Since she doesn’t like being interviewed (too many difficult choices), I let her off the hook. 🙂 Tom took her to Nancy’s Diner for the traditional breakfast (cheese omelette) with daddy for the birthday girl.
We were kind of bummed that the whole family couldn’t participate in her b’day activity because Silas had just been diagnosed with strep throat (and possibly the mumps- he had to be isolated until the test results came back. Negative). So, she and I played battleship and we packed up a picnic lunch, then Tom and the girls spent some time at COSI- a kid’s science museum here in Columbus…
I thought she was pretty genius to arrange her ships in a 9. 🙂
She loved the submarine, lifting a car, making her hair stand on end with static electricity, playing a reflex testing game, potting plants for Earth day, rat basketball, etc.
Back at home she played some cards with Silas and then went to pick out some sushi for supper. We hadn’t had any in a long time and we all love it, so we very much enjoyed that b’day dinner. Most of us like the eel the best. Then she opened her presents. I wanted to to see her joy (and Claire’s joy) over the matryoshka doll that Claire gave her. Delight! Other gifts: the game Clue, red scooter, backpack, antique binoculars, nightgown from Si, peacock feathers (a dream of hers), clothes and doll clothes from Mast grandparents, money gifts from Rhodes grandparents, aunts, uncles. She also loved her birthday calls from both grandparents!
Can’t forget the traditional birthday spanking!
Then we had to go down to the school and try out the new scooter of course!
Followed by cake….
We ended the day with her first game of Clue. Eliza is pretty good and has already beat us a few times!
Eliza- we are so proud of you! You are a hard working girl in school and a kind friend to Muji, Naama, and your siblings. You are a little smartie and we like how you’re such a quick thinker and always trying to help us all be super accurate. 🙂 You are a cheerful helper around the house and are good at entertaining Silas. We like your creativity and artistry. We love your smiles and the way you like to hug and snuggle a lot. We’re happy you’re so close with Claire and that you guys enjoy sharing a room and talking every night. We love going on walks and bike rides with you, going to the library, and playing games like Battleship, Password, and Taboo. We are glad you are a follower of Jesus and that you are obedient to him. Eliza, we love you and are having a lot of fun watching you grow up!
