Is it morbid to take kids to a cemetery on spring break? I think not if it’s the most beautiful cemetery ever…Cave Hill in Louisville, KY. There is something about thinking about death and seeing spring during Holy Week too- the resurrection is such good news! The bottom picture shows a whole section for Confederate soldiers. Eerie to see so many graves marked with the same few year time period.
Back down to the river front to a fun park and to walk along the river. Silas had a meltdown immediately after we took that picture- he got a stick in the eye and then was in obvious need of a nap. We settled down with our books under this gorgeous tree and…
After some snoozing, we headed into the downtown to explore the city a bit…
Another very pretty city!
Baseball and some local coffee. What more could you ask for.
Louisville slugger museum (and factory). See our tiny kiddos?
Always and forever a Cal Ripken fan.
Deeeeee-licious Louisville BBQ and another hotel pool swim…
We spent our last morning in this pretty Old Louisville historic district with incredibly detailed old houses, wide streets, fountains. Eliza with a giant woodcarving of a lamplighter. There were lit gas lamps on the streets too. Amazing! I don’t know how everyone in this area is not an artist or a writer!
Mosey-ing back home with stops for DQ (see my little boy dandelion gifts wilting on the dash?) and Jungle Jims (huge international grocery).
What a great getaway and how wonderful to be back home in time for Easter!
