Breakfast Surprise

We really enjoyed our family time after Tom came back from Thailand. Saturday we planned a little surprise outing for the kids. We packed a picnic, woke them up, and took our warmly bundled sleepy heads to a topiary garden downtown for breakfast (chosen for it’s proximity to surprise #2). We enjoyed some egg burritos by a pond and then walked over to the main branch of the downtown library where we were all in book heaven for a few hours. On our way home, we stopped by a farmer’s market to visit Eliza’s new school friend Muji who’s parents own an art gallery and restaurant there.  We bought our first tiny pumpkin of the season and Silas fell completely in love. He insisted on carrying it and started praying for his very own pumpkin.  We are soaking up fall and really enjoying our first year of SEASONS!

The topiary scene was based on the painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” Bit of a stretch but a nice try. 🙂

We liked the motto carved into the doorway and steps: “My treasures arewithin. Open to all”
